School visits
I enjoy sharing my experiences of being an author. During Primary school visits, "The Story of a Picture Book” enables children to see how a real book takes shape, charting the development of words and pictures. Older children are often intersted in the printing and production process.
I offer creative writing workshops for children aged 4-11, designed to support the National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage. Workshops can be linked to particular themes, such as dragons, and are usually craft-based and always inclusive.
I charge in line with the Society of Authors recommended rates; please contact me for details.
I am CRB checked (enhanced) and am a member of the Society of Authors and the National Association of Writers in Education. I have been a panel judge for the Wealden House Young Writer’s Competition, and am a reader for a literary consultancy specialising in chidlren's books. I also write for the Times Educational Supplement, Nursery World and Early Years Educator. You can see my work by visiting the archive section at www.tes.co.uk
"Your visit inspired every child from Reception to Year 1 and Year 2. The materials were wonderfully prepared and all the children loved choosing different textured fabrics for their dragons and naming their dragons!"
Liz Foinette, Reception Teacher, St Mary's C. E. School, East Grinstead
"A fun and interactive approach, particularly suitable for those children
who have difficulties in literacy."
Theresa Wingfield, Year 4 Teacher and Literacy Co-ordinator, Holbrook Primary School
